What people have done for me has returned a reaction I haven't felt since watching Goose die the first time I saw Top Gun... different emotions... same reaction.
In the last four days I’ve gone from thinking I’ll be losing my house to pulling off something special. Something I didn't even believe would happen when I started out. Special, because it was mostly through the generosity of complete strangers, and for that I am amazed, astonished, and humbled.
I’d like to give special thanks to the following, because I believe
they each deserve a varied portion of the credit for saving my home:
The mention about my blog brought incredible amounts of attention (and loanations) to my cause. Rightly listing me in the "dumbass" category I credit Fark with helping save my house.they each deserve a varied portion of the credit for saving my home:
The demographic that loves your show must also love the idea of a man burning a car. Their support helped provide the much needed lift to close the gap in the final minutes.
Kieth's interest in the actual "why's" of my story helped listeners to relate and loanate.
Thanks for taking the time to let me tell my story amidst your other stories of beer, chicks, beer, beer, chicks and beer.
Despite your audiences overwhelming assertion that I am a bum and loser, publicity is publicity and I got a few loanations thanks solely to you.

In a time when no one seems to read anything longer than 140 characters, the video you shot gave my story a face (albeit an unshaven one) and allowed me to explain.

The following Twitter personages or "Tweeps"
Tirelessly irritating your followers in unwavering loyalty to my cause. Astonishingly Twitter made more than half of those loaning me money aware of my plight.
Most Important Thanks
The hundreds of people that contributed amounts as small as $1 to my cause. Your generosity is amazing. It's simply amazing. I know that there are good and decent people in the world. Long after the loans are paid, I will be deeply indebted.
At the moment I’m trying to find a location to safely burn the car. I’ll update you as time progresses. If anyone has any idea's, would like to sponsor the event or knows a fireman who takes $20-dollar-handshakes... let me know.
I have received several requests, that, rather than light the car on fire that I donate it to charity, or auction it off. I would be happy to do so. However, I believe a large portion of those who loanated did so because of the advertisement of lighting the car on fire. However I have emailed each of those who lent me the money to see if the general consensus has changed.

I am so happy you made it!! My friend would really like to meet you. She posted the URL on her facebook and encouraged friends to read your blog and donate. It's amazing and awesome that people can get together to help a friend/stranger in need in difficult financial times. I'm really glad you were able to keep your house. Can we clean it now?
I know of a separated single mother who has a broke down car and a three-year old boy w little income. I'm sure she would be willing to swap her broke down car for your working auto and then you could torch hers. Let me know if you are interested, Joe
I agree with average Joe- give the mom that car. Even if you don't, it would probably be better if you DON'T torch the car. Donate it, sell it...
I, for one just wanted a fire. It doesn't have to be a car-b-que. I'll still bring marshmallows. Actually, I think I'll only bring marshmallows IF it's not a car-b-que. (Gasoline flavored s'mores? Ewwwwww...)
I also agree with Joe! Give the car to the Mom in need! As a Mom who was once in need, I remember how awesome it was when people helped me!
Burn her car! No one will care that it's not THE car you said you would burn! I'm sure any car will be fine.
AMEN Joe!!! I LOVE it! Seriously! Much better cause...
Can I donate the $20.00 for the fireman's handshake?!...I didn't get to donate! :)
As long as you're torching A CAR, I think everyone will be content, and you'd be helping someone else in need as well. I say go for it.
Wow I think what you accomplished these last few days is amazing!!! I didn't get to donate, but would Love to for the car torching... or bring food either way ha ha. The maxipad lives on... and yes... can we clean it now? I'f love to help!!
I'm also a poor homeowner that can't afford my mortgage.
Because I can't manage my own finances, I would like to reach out for others to pay for my mistakes. How can I start?
Just found out my friend didn't need john's car afterall. Her car situation has improved from the last time we talked.
I'm excited for John and the miracle of kindness from friends and strangers. Let a car burn in honor of this kindness
Pay it forward and do yourself a favor. Donate the car to a nonprofit and get a receipt for the Blue Book value, then claim it on your taxes!
Donate it?! Screw that, he owes his donors a burnt car.
